From the front, you have to look carefully to see the remains of the LEHIGH VALLEY letters spelled out on the front parapet wall. Though people mostly think of Bayonne as being the location of the Jersey Central mainline, the Lehigh Valley had a small branch line which extended from the National Docks Secondary, all along the east side of what was then Route #: 169 (now Route #: 440), and terminated at the freight house which was at the site of a small yard for storing tank cars for the Standard Oil Company.
