Fanwood Station was built in 1874 by the CNJ Railroad on its Main Line. Although the CNJ ceased to exist in 1976 with the start of Conrail, this station continues to be used a stop on the now New Jersey Transit Raritan Valley Line. The station itself is used as a community center/museum. Since the pictures taken in the 50's-60's when the CNJ trains still ran, it is evident that a lot of vegetation has since grown and obscured the station from certain angles. Some other changes have also been put in place for the modern day commuters.
