This faded Southern caboose is on display at the Huntsville Depot Museum in downtown Huntsville, AL. Behind it you can see the wall of the ex-Memphis and Charleston Railroad Freight Depot which was built in 1856 and was the oldest remaining example of antebellum railroad architecture in the United States. Although it was on the path to being preserved and restored, the structure was destroyed by arson on March 10, 2004. All plans to save/rebuild the structure have failed and, to my knowledge, has been completely demolished. Photo taken in 2009.
