On October 1st, 2023, NJT held a "Meet the Heritage Fleet" day to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the railroad. The event was held at Hoboken Terminal and featured a display of the locomotives that were painted in the liveries of the original railroads from which New Jersey Transit was derived, as well as some visitors. One visitor was this privately owned E8 that was restored back to its original Pennsylvania Railroad colors. It was built in 1952 for the Pennsylvania and served until it was absorbed by Conrail. It was then used by NJ DOT/NJT on commuter services before the type was retired in 1987. In the background, you can see a replica of an eagle statue that was part of the original Pennsylvania Station in New York City. The originals were destroyed during the demolition of the station.
