Though the platform is deserted, and the only sound is of the music playing on the station PA system, it is 10pm and the beginning of the time slot in which freight trains can use the Northeast Corridor. The station is Perryville, MD is located on a wye that Norfolk Southern trains use to come on and off the Port Deposit Line to Harrisburg. The trains usually go to and from either Baltimore, MD or Newark, DE. Since the Northeast Corridor is a dedicated high-traffic/high speed passenger line, the freight trains are only allowed a nocturnal time slot to move over this line. Though the station is quiet, in a few minutes the rumble of an eastbound will be heard, and the headlight will appear through the bushes on the right. It will hold for a westbound empty coal train that will come up from the corridor. This was the last stop of the trip and last photo I took.
