In a scene reminiscent of the era when it was a requirement for all New York area railroads to have a harbor fleet, the Marjorie B. McAllister chugs along New York Bay with a railroad float barge near Bayonne, NJ with the skyline of downtown New York as a backdrop. It is headed for interchange with the New York New Jersey Railroad at Greenville Yard, in Jersey City, NJ. The New York New Jersey Railroad is the last remaining float operation in New York Harbor, which ferries rail cars between Greenville Yard in Jersey City, NJ and the 65th Street Rail Yard in Brooklyn, NY. It provides a direct rail link from Long Island to the main railroad terminals in New Jersey and avoids a lengthy detour from the north, via Selkirk.
